Hi I’m Meagan Wachtel! I’m a Cuban-American Director of Photography.
I am an alum of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film and Television Production. I’m currently based in Brooklyn, New York, but my work as a cinematographer has taken me to Seattle, Paris, and Havana.
I have shot several award-winning NYU thesis productions, worked in the camera department on Panavision “New Filmmaker” grant recipient productions, received an accreditation from the Cannes International Film Festival, and placed at the world’s largest youth film festival, NFFTY.
My portfolio balances my love of classic filmmaking techniques and my modern visual sensibility. My work facilitates the visual language between filmmaking and real-life themes of womanhood, mental health, cultural differences, intimacy, and queerness. I am inspired by the work of Nan Goldin, Robby Müller, and Pedro Almodovar.
When I’m not on set, I love taking film photographs and animating.
I am open to freelance and commercial work. For further information and general inquiries, you can reach here or directly via meagantheepisces@gmail.com.
